MCQUILLAN QUARRIES
McQuillan Quarries have been associated with high quality materials and service for generations. This tradition has ensured that we are now leading suppliers of bituminous products, high PSV aggregate and construction fill materials. Our two asphalt coating plant locations outside Belfast and Dromore Co. Down have state of the art manufacturing facilities allowing us to supply our own contracting division whilst comfortably servicing a public market for any blacktop material needs. With materials testing labs at both depots, we ensure the supply of quality products that meet British and European standards.
HIGH PSV AGGREGATES
We produce a range of High-PSV aggregate at Edentrillick Quarry. With PSV values of 65+, this aggregate offers a higher level of skid resistance, and is used in applications such as:
- Motorways
- Dual Carriageways
- Roundabouts
This product can be exported via shipping ports in Belfast to overseas locations.
All products are produced and supplied to BS EN 13043
CONSTRUCTION FILL MATERIALS
We produce and supply all fill materials for use in construction.
Common building aggregates produced include:
- Crusher run materials – 63mm, 100mm , Type 1, Type 3, Quarry Rubble
- Single size aggregates used in construction projects
- Range of Recycled Products
All products are produced and supplied to BS EN 13242
BITUMINOUS PRODUCTS
Our two asphalt coating plant locations at Budore Quarry and Edentrillick Quarry, have manufacturing facilities allowing us to supply our own Contracting Division whilst comfortably servicing a public market for any bituminous product needs. With material testing labs at both depots, we ensure the supply of quality products that meet BS EN 13108
ASPHALT CONCRETE
Asphalt Concrete (commonly known as Bitmac) is a hot mixture comprising of penetration grade bitumen, filler, fine and coarse aggregates. It can be used as base, regulating, binder and surface course and is suitable for both machine and hand-laying.
The product is suitable for:
- Roads
- Footways
- Driveways
- Parking areas
Key benefits and features include:
- Durability
- Flexibility
- Versatility
- Noise reduction
All products produced and supplied to relevant quality standard BS EN 13108-1
HOT ROLLED ASPHALT (HRA)
HRA can be used in base, binder and surface courses. When laid as a surface course, Pre coated chips (PCCs) are placed upon the surface before compaction to provide texture. This material is used in the motorway and major trunk road networks in the UK and Ireland as the surface course due to the following properties
- High durability
- Resistance to permanent deformation
- Weather resistance
All products produced and supplied to relevant quality standard BS EN 13108-4
THIN LAYER SURFACING (SMA'S)
Thin surface course systems consist of:
- Asphaltic concrete surface courses made with either a polymer modified binder (Known as PMB) or 40/60 penetration grade bitumen with organic cellulose fibres. HAPAS approved.
This type of material is characterised by:
- Environmentally friendly as thin layers reduce the use of natural resources
- noise reduction
- spray reduction
- durability
All products produced and supplied to relevant quality standard BS EN 13108-5
QUICKSURF (COLD-LAY MACADAM)
QUICKSURF is a 0/6mm asphaltic concrete material suitable for cold lay applications
This highly versatile material is suitable for:
- Footways
- Carriageways
- Drives
- Parking areas
The product is suitable for hand laying and is workable at ambient air temperature without the requirement to reheat.
It is available from our Budore depot in:
- 25kg bags
- 1 tonne pallets
- Loose/Bulk
The specialist additive used ensures a superior shelf life.
All products produced and supplied to relevant quality standard BS EN 13108-1
PRE-COATED CHIPS
Pre-coated chips are a single size aggregate coated with a layer of bitumen or coloured binder. They are predominantly used with HRA to provide macrotexture to surface course layers.
These are available in a variety of sizes, in either Red or Black.
All products produced and supplied to relevant quality standard BS EN 13108
